98 ranger 4wd transfer case motor is not even trying to engage
Hello,
I just bought a 1998 Ford Ranger 3.0 4x4 manual transmission. The story is a few years ago the last owner tried out the 4WD, it went in but never disengaged. My first thought was the motor on the transfer case so I replaced it, that did not work. The motor wasn’t even getting power. Then I checked the fuses, the only ones that I noticed that were not getting power at all are 24,28, and I think 4 (I could be wrong on that last one). But the fuses were fine, so then I checked if the switch was getting power. Long story short it is not. I know the GEM is fine because everything else electrical is working, and I don’t think it is the transfer case control module, although it is not making any noise when I try to engage 4WD. I don’t know if this is connected to anything but the brown wire on the transfer case is not connected, from what I read it allows the transfer case to change from 4WD to 2WD as it is moving. So I don’t think that’s my problem. I’m at a loss why. Any suggestions?
