Icon5 adding aux port ?

ok so I have done some research and it seems it is possible to add an aux port to your radio. However when I took my cd player apart there are no indications of L out and R out like it shows in some pictures of the cd player. I have a 2001 edge and I'm assuming that the radios are different. How would I go about adding an aux port into my radio??

thanks for your help

To my understanding you will need a stock radio from '07 and up, they come with an aux port input as well as the input itself. Otherwise you could use an FM receiver but quality is never that good with them.

The easiest way is but in an aftermarket head unit with an AUX jack. I got a Pioneer unit from Crutchfield with the wiring harness and the black trim piece for $115.

Yup the aux port came stock on all 07's+, all you will need ais a set of double DIN remover tools to get the radios out. (I think I paid $11 for mine or you can make your own if you've got the time) the aux jack is where the airbag switch is on prior generations so you'll have to find somewhere to put it. When I did this exact same thing I just knocked the jack out of the mount and tucked the aux jack in behind the radio and ran a stereo extension to my iPhone mount on the dash, it hasn't come loose since (2 years now). Some guys have talked about mounting it where the airbag switch is but I looked into it and the module for it is a decent size to try and hide or extend elsewhere. The other advantage to the swap is the 07+ radios also read MP3 CD's

There is a unit that plug in the back of the CD6, the 20 pin port I think.

I can look it up if interested.

Two cords coming out for device hookup, one for an iPod and one with a 3.5mm plug.
Works great I have one.

Check the web I paid $99 for mine.

ok cool thanks a lot for your help guys!!! I'll give the junkyards a call and see if I can find a radio with an aux port. If I can't I'll probably just get a 50 radio from tigerdirect and go that route.

thanks again!!!

Most radios should work, you will have to buy an installation kit for the specific radio and a wiring harness as well that will plug unto your stock harness (if your using the stock speakers) the ford rangers have a "double DIN" radio so if you want to fill the existing hole, that's the route you should take, most guys have had to trim the stock bezel to fit the radio in as well. If you go Single DIN you can easily find an "adapter" for it which is a small cubby space that fills in the rest of the gap. Or you can go ***** to the wall and attempt to fit a CB in with a Single DIN radio, but in my research I have yet to find a CB company that has made one to those dimensions.

It can be done:

Try this link for some reason it doesn't let me link it.. so add the www | ********************/members/shadowcat/albums/my-truck-10-5-2011/25577-img-20110803-155305

Wow I can't believe I can't link to another ford forum...really??? See attached pic for URL on how to do it..

About to do it this weekend to mine.

Only thing is you have to have a silent cd in the player so that it tricks the system in thining that it's playing a cd but it's getting the input from the aux you just soldered onto the board..

But it can be done.
And not that hard actually.
