Aftermarket Tach install problem (once again) dimmer issue.

Hello all, happy to be a new member on this forum. I have searched but haven't been able to find an answer to my specific problem.

I've installed an aftermarket tach and have everything works great, rpms appear to be accurate etc. But when I turn on my headlights I lose all tach function. I'm assuming at this point I would like my tach light to turn on and be dim-able with my dash lights?

where did I go wrong? My tach has a green, red, black, and white wire. Red is to power, green spliced to tach signal wire, black is ground. I'm assuming the white wire is my problem. I thought I was supposed to splice it into my dimmer?

Whats going on here..

Edit. Actually the gauge will still work. However the rpm will change depending on how bright or dim I set my dash panel to be. And even then, I have no tach light. Very odd.

This is on a 1994 ranger 2x4

Fixed it.

My ground wasn't good enough, was looping through my tach. Works perfectly now.
