Where on a '99 4 door ext. cab is the switch on the driver's door that turns off the door chime?Mine is out of adjustment and lets the chime ding and ding and ding.HELP before I lose what mind I have left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unhook it.... I think so...

 

It's built into the latch mechanism. Spray a whole lot of WD-40 into the door latch mechanism in the door (the part that engages the door frame post) and open and close the doors a bunch of times. Should solve it.

 

That would cure the dinging,but it wouldn't do anything about the interior light staying on,which I forgot to mention.

Yes it will. You mechinism is stuck on, making your truck think the door is always open. Once you fix the it, the truck will no longer think the door is open and will chime no more, and the light will go off like normal. I had this problem a long time ago.

 

Yup, it's happened to me twice since i've owned mine.

 

Even happened to mine. WD-40 did the trick.

 

i bought a new switch for 6 dollars. solved the problem.

WD-40 might not always work though. $6 ain't so much.

I had a similar problem except with squeking...sqweeking? Anyway the doors
sqeeeekd on rough roads...SO I injected a boat load of White Lithium Grease into all the hinge openings, latches etc. and I haven't had a hint of anything since then. I like WLG for two reasons, the first is it seems to "stick" better and provide prolonged lubrication and second is I like its ability to repel water/salt/rust under such areas as door seams and tailgate seams (Areas prone to rust quickly). WD-40 is nice for a lot of things but it quickly gathers up dirt and grime and then just wears away. The door seams and tailgate seams are still white from before winter when I sprayed them down good...no rust there.
