Airbag code 17

Hello all,

Glad to join the ranger/b-series club:)

The little 2002 Mazda b2300 4cyl 5speed I bought was a salvaged vehicle. Got it for a good price. The airbags deployed, I there is a blinking code on the airbag light.

Now I hav searched google and other forums for a while now, and have not found code 17...
I posted 1 thread on another forums, but I want to sk here as well.

Flashes 1time........ ... Then starts blinking 7 times ... Repeat

I thought it was the airbag control module, but it looks like that is code 19. So before I p urchase I wanted to see if any gurus here can help me out.

Thanks,

Mark

2002 Lamp Fault Code 1-7 is for either a short to hot or a short to ground in the driver side seat belt pretensioner circuit. Of the two, a short to ground would seem more probable. Pulling the actual scanned code can tell you exactly which it is.

B1878......Driver Pretensioner Circuit Shorted to Battery or Ign
B1879......Driver Pretensioner Circuit Shorted to Ground
