Couple of questions for those electrical gurus/ car alarm installers.

Where do you mount the "dual zone sensor box." I noticed it had a little window as well as a **** to adjust sensitivity (I assume). I mean, where do physically mount this thing.

Second question, where do you mount the glass break sensor (I assume it's a little microphone). Physically, where should this litlle microphone wire be mounted. Close to the driver side window? Any help would be appreciated, especially from the guys that do this for a living.

 

i would mount the control box under the dash on the driver side somewere or insided the glove box........the glass break sensor, i would mount above the rear view mirror....

 

In the system I purchased, there is the main box "the brain" which sits in the dash, then there is the "dual zone sensor box." This box, I'm not sure where to mount this along with the best place to mount the glass break sensor.

 

glass break sensor = above rear view mirror....

dual zone sensor = behind radio in dash.........adjust sensistivity before sealing it in the dash....

This may be a stupid question, but what's the little window on the dual sensor box for? does this window need contact with light from the cabin? Just want to make sure I install it right the first time. Thanks for the input so far.

 

first off... is the dual zone sensor a shock sensor or a motion sensor? if its motion, then putting it behind the dash anywhere is a bad location. in fact, even if its a shock sensor, some random location behind the dash isnt the best place to put it.

motion sensor - mount as close to the center of your cab as possible. inside the armrest/under the center seat will work.

shock sensor - mount on a SOLID surface. there's a security module behind the floor cupholders that is attached to a bracket thats welded/rivited to the truck body. under or around that bracket is perfect.

EDIT: looks like its a shock sensor included with that kit. i have no idea what the window is for, as shock sensors dont need light or anything. maybe its just a window to make it look cool, or to provide access to lights on the unit or something.

 

zone sensor should be a shock sensor DEI calls their shock sensors dual zone sensors, mount the brain behind the radio, as far as the microphone, i never use them i think there pointless cuz the shock sensor will catch anything in the car as long as you mount that brain super tight to something

 

That’s the same system I put in my truck last year. The dual stage electronic shock sensor that comes with this kit (in theory) means it can tell the difference between a light tap, activating only the warn away feature or a harder impact, activating full alarm. I mounted the sensor under the dash on the main wiring loom. Make sure to position it so you can access the small hole for adjustments. The window I believe was used on another model that had an LED in it. Just go thru the setup once your done and you should be good to go. The only down side was the dim dash mount LED. I replace it with a brighter one.
