Auto Mirror wont slide onto the window tab??

The old nasty mirror slipped off easily, but the auto mirror wouldn't slide on! I tried pushing it on with all of my he-man strength and grinding both the glued on tab and the rear of the mirror's bracket to no avail. :(

I also tried to get the old window post/tab off the window and that looks to be a major PITA. Has anyone had this problem before? Solutions?

If I can't get the old window tab off, I'm about to (somehow) glue the power mirror's tab to the old one and say eff it.

I had this problem with my 03. I never could figure out why I had a different mirror than everyone else...until I went to put the auto dim mirror on. My windshield mount was smaller than the auto dim's mount. Everyone told me the mounts were the same, but mine definetly was not, and found no way to switch them.

That pissed me off for over a year until I had to put a new windsield in the truck. The new windshield comes with a mount, but guess what, it didn't fit my stock mirror. Tried the auto dim, and it fit PERFECT. I have no clue why mine was different, but it was. I bet you got an "odd-ball" also.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! lol Hmm, aside from replacing the window, how can I change out the tabs?
