Icon5 Automatic Shifter Lever loose

When i purchased my truck, the shifter lever was loose, its got about an inch of up down play, just the lever itself NOT the indicator.

about a month after the dealer "fixed it" it has since come loose again. id rather not schlep back there and ask they refix their work if i can just take a look at it myself and do a better repair job.

Anyone have any tips, help, or know what i need to look at?

Take the steering column cover off and have a look. Should be some bolts or heavy screws holding the shifter on

this was easier than i thought.
the column trim comes off with just three screws from the bottom.
There is a rubber bushing that surrounds the shifter and seats it into the metal receiver on the column. I immediately saw it wasn't seated all the way in and was sliding out (again).
I knocked the pin out, slid the shifter out, and saw that it had already been broken, there is a hole in the rubber piece that keeps in it place around the pin that holds everything together, its torn and was just working its way out again. when the dealer 'fixed it' they just jammed it back in.

i'll have to order the parts and just redo it. no big deal, its a 15 minute job.
