backuplights switched with stock fog switch
backuplights switched with stock fog switch
OK, right now I have backup lights wired up using a switch that the lights came with, but I just got a new bezel with the fog light switch and I would like to use that switch instead. The lights are wired using a relay right now, so can I just trade out the switches? This is how they are wired up right now, will this work fine using the stock foglight switch?

I hope that makes sense. As you can see im getting the switch power from the stock backup light bulb and im not sure the fog light switch can take the power that it puts out.

ok thanks, I saw something like that that you posted in another thread. I just wasnt sure if it would work.
Ill get another relay tomorrow and wire it up. It looks like the 87a isnt used so ill buy a spst relay.

Fog light switch pin out:
3 is the input from the relay control ground.
4 is chassis ground.
5 is from brown wire on headlight switch so it lights up when you turn on your park/headlamps.
6 is so the indicator light comes on telling you the lights are on.
Edit:
Heres a diagram using your relay and configuration . Note, the acc lights will only work if your backup lamps are on when you hit the foglight switch.

Your switch controls the power side of the relay control and the fog light switch controls the ground side. You could eliminate using a second relay its just that I didn't feel like running more wires through the firewall since my relay is under hood. The fog light switch controls the ground side of term 86 in my diagram or 85 of yours. You would need to tap off term 87 of your diagram and run a wire back to term 6 of the fog light switch and it will work.
