Check engine codes PO136 and PO455

Had 99 ranger 4.0 scanned at Advance and these codes came up. Could they be related? I just put on O2 sensor on the passenger side. I read where the 455 code could mean a leak in the fuel filler hose. I've got a flareside and if that is the case, can you get one for a styleside and cut if off?

If you have a leak in the filler hose they usually dump fuel on the ground when you fill.

Not sure if your hose is bad but you can cut down a reg bed to flare, I did it. Ended up being about 4 or 5 inches to remove, not a big deal.

I would pull the bed and inspect all the hoses including the lines back to the purge canister.

I filled it up and sure enough, the fuel filler hose is leaking. It's rusted pretty bad. Is it necessary to remove the bed to put this in? It looks like it would come straight out and install straight in.

Its up to you on pulling the bed. Pulling the bed and swapping the hose took me about 45 minutes, by myself. I do have air tools and and engine hoist so it was an easier option then laying on my back wiggling this thing out. A side note I dont think you will be able to see the hose clamps without pulling the bed.

Just make sure your length is the same before you reinstall, the hoses will be kinked if they are long or dont fit if its short.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely make sure the length is the same. It's supposed to fit both styleside and flareside so I'm thinking I'll have to cut to length.
