It been 7 years since you looked at me,

I had a bit of trouble over the 20 below weather last week, I had to jump start the truck in the garage....I can't pin point it but cheap gas or a weak battery were to blame. If you haven't had to change your battery in a few years or so, go out and remove that hold down bolt and grease the threads a put it back in...I thought I was going to snap mine off....That was the oem battery, I ordered the same Motorcraft battery for it....

Its been a great truck since day one, what I was trying to get at was its been sooo good that I never had to remove the battery since I bought it. I have had to replace batteries before in my other cars and have had the same thing happen to me that almost happened....SNAP!!!! the hold down bolt get so rusted near the end that it cracks off in the hole on the battery mounting plate. My auto parts guy had the battery in about 3 days because the weather and driving were not getting along with each other for about 4 days here in Chicago. Its to the point now that if I haven't had to replace something (like a battery) that I haven't needed to since the truck was new....what else might SNAP-CRACKEL & POP!!!

I have had batteries last 6 or 7 years, but if you don't want take the chance to be stranded out in the cold I replace before 5th winter. It could easy cost the same $100 for a tow or pay jump and it is a waste of time. Actually having lived in FL the HOT weather shortens battery life 4 to 5 years is about the norm.

Every year I put new batteries in my DD truck. But being a diesel I fear the winter. So its just part of the routine. September/october I put two new batterers in as well as check the glow plug system all over and swap to 10w30 oil.

Now before you got hating on me wasting cash on batteries the old ones get handed down to the farm tractors and whatnot. Plus I get two 950CCA batteries for 100 bucks through a dealer so its worth it

I had to settle for a Wal-Mart 'Ever Start' a couple years back since Sears tested my OEM Motorcraft (W hich left me stranded at the mall) and deemed it 'dead'. Problem was Sears was out-of-stock on replacement ones. I had to settle for an el cheapo 'ever start' with a two year free replacement warranty, and it got the job done. Latest almost three years, and I replaced with one from Advance last month.

I still have my OEM battery. it barely cranks the truck in the cold mornings but surprisingly, it seems itll survive the winter. when it does die, ill put another motorcraft battery in it since this one has lasted so damn long
