So, within the last few months my blower speed has been acting up. The problem is with the lowest 2 speeds. Sometimes speeds 1 and 2 do not work at all. Sometimes speed 2 is only as strong as speed 1. Whenever this occurs speeds 3 and 4 always work fine. The problem persists on all settings(ac, max ac, feet, feet/head, defrost). Any ideas on what could be wrong and/or how to fix it?

Could be just corrosion on the connections under the hood.
Can’t hurt to find the connector, clean up the connections and do one of two things.
One would be to clean the existing connections both the male and female sides, put on some Anti-corrosion Paste but not a lot and put the connections back together.

Using slip-on type solder wire lugs, clean the connections on the heater side attach the wire lugs to the wires of the harness, slide a piece of Heat Shrink on the wire, the kind with adhesive inside and slide the lugs on the appropriate connection in place; solder the wire lug to the connector, shrink the Heat shrink until you can see some adhesive coming out of the ends.
Easiest to do if you remove the resistor pac.

Im not very familiar with this aspect of my truck. Could you help me out with the location, how to get to it, and how to fix it?
the blower motor is accessible from inside the engine compartment
looking at the engine from the front ,, the blower is on the left side of the firewall
you will see a circular part the blower motor is bolted to it

Attempt to rework the Resistor Pak on the Heater Housing in the engine bay first before buying a new/used sw, just clean up the connections on the Resistor Pak and the Harness Connector first.
I have been told the resistor pak is almost always the problem when you don’t have all of the speeds in the blower.
The resistor pak is located to the driver’s side of the fan assembly in the engine bay.
Just thinking out loud, hope you get it fixed, post if/when you do and what you did.
DO NOT REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR!! If you have any fan speed the blower motor is working fine.
If you can't select the fan speeds the resistor and the resistor connector are corroded/melted and need replaced. The resistor you can get at Autozone, the connector for it (which you will have to rewire up) you will have to pull from another truck or buy at the stealership. I got my stuff from a 99 Expo with low miles.

so i ended up taking the truck to the dealer because i needed a new door latch and they looked at the blower issue and told me it was the switch. Later that day they said oh it's not the switch but the resistor BUT there were some wires pulled out of the switch connector so you'll need one of those too. Funny thing is, I had that panel off a few days ago and there were no wires pulled out. I just got back from telling them to leave it and I will do it instead of them raping me on their price to fix it.
so i just picked up my truck and the 'broken connector' was one wire that doesn't snap into the connector. The hvac controls have never been taken apart so that was probably like that since it was new.

I was told or read on this site to use individual wire lugs for each connection and use Heat Shrink (adhesive inside type) over each one, after making sure the new connections work then shrink the tubing. This eliminates the connector and possible bad connections in the future, add a little bit (not much) of conductive paste to each connection before pushing on the Lug.
A/C Fan has stopped working on 87 Ranger and I can not locate Resistor. Fan went from 4 speeds working fine to only Highest speed and now Will not work at all. Chat a few days ago made it sound as though newer models have the Resistor in a different location. I opened and cleaned switch and seems OK. Thanks in Advance. Mike
