on-board air
on-board air
hey guys, so i got this idea in my head that i want an on-board air system with some ***** to it, not only to air the tires, but to also run some air tools (chisel most of all). anyone else do this or even know what kinda specs i should be most concerned with? been researching it about a week and still have very little grasp on concepts like duty cycle.
One important detail is that you need a compressor that has it's own lubricant reservoir. Ranger A/C compressors don't. The most popular seems to be the York compressor or equivalent.

ive got a viair 380 compressor on 5 gallons soon to be 3 compressors on 10 gallons just gotta install it..but i run horns, fill up tires..impact..some air tools with jsut the 5 gallons runnin 200 PSI..soon to double my volume so id like to see what i can do there..
An air chisel has a really high rate of air comsumption, somewhere bwtween 9-15cfm @ 90psi depending on what type of quality/power you buy. It's doubtfull that you'll ever get a car installed compressor to put out that type of air volume, so you'll also need to consider a largerish (10-20 gallon) holding tank.
