Brake Failure PART 2!

well, it just isn't a good week until the brakes start grinding again. lol.
I tighten up my back self adjusters (i have to every couple o' months cause i cut my E-Brake cable, never out it back on) So it was good for a few days, now whenever i stop while the truck is turning or on an angle, the brakes grind. i KNOW it isn't the fronts, i literally just fixed that stuff 3 weeks ago.
Anyone got any suggestions before i go out there an pull my drums off, When i tighten the self adjusters, i still had plenty of metal on the shoes. It still stops nice and everything, and i'm pretty sure when i floored the brakes to test them out i burned them in real nice. (could smell them)
If i recall correctly, this happened once before, but i don't remember what i did to fix it, it was probably something simple like taking my rear drums off and putting them back on.

At least your self adjuster didn't fall off like mine recently did. It was hanging on by a thread and grinding the hell out of the drums. Thought I had a serious problem till I noticed this.

Sounds like they're a tad too tight and dragging, which makes them hot, then they expand in size a bit, and drag a little more. Bite the bullet, go buy the cable, restore it to the way it should be and be done with it. FWIW, standing on the brakes and getting them sizzling hot can result in glazing the brake shoes, which *may* result in decreased stopping ability and funny noises. Never good to jam the brake pedal down hard and long without a real good reason.

There wasn't anything wrong when i took the drums off, everything looked good, the self adjusters we're actually too loose. tightened them up a bit and no more grind.
There really is no need for me to get an E-brake cable anyways. It'll just rust up and snap like the other ones that have been put on this truck did.
