A/C always works..

Hi everyone, I recently discovered that my A/C is working on modes that it's not suppose to. The A/C doesn't work on "feet only", "upper body only", and "off" position. All the others positions ("A/C", "A/C MAX", "feet and upper body", "feet and window", "window only") the A/C works...

Did someone knows how to fix that? Winter is coming and I wanna fix this before.

Thanks a lot guy!!!

So, unfortunately, that's by design, it's worse than "usual"

I just fitted a switch this weekend to handle this annoying issue.

Switch/break the purple wire coming from the vent direction selector, that's all.
I replaced my cigarette lighter as i don't need it.

MaDMaxx, that was a great idea. I've been planning to do this for before cold weather set in. Could you share and tell where you got the switch from? And for us electrically challenged folk, maybe how you hooked the switch up too?

Well, the switch is a long story because i got it large enough to fit the cigarette lighter hole (though i did need to dremel the inside smooth)

I used a Ulincos switch, i custom ordered from them as there didn't appear to be one that large on Amazon.

You only need a regular push button switch, unplug the purple wire (only one there) that's in the back of the vent dial and attach it to the switch, run the other pole on the switch to the vent dial again.

There is a guide on here somewhere about making this mod, but it's honestly really simple. I did have a little electric help from my Brother as he made me order a more complicated switch, but it wasn't necessary - i've made this mod on the Ranger and on a Mustang i owned previously.

Why is this something that needs to be 'fixed'? The system is designed to engage the compressor automatically to dry the air. What problem is that causing?

A lot of people don't desire the compressor to be running, it's unneeded and wasteful (affects MPG) It doesn't engage it automatically to dry the air, it just engages when specific vent settings are selected.

I will also add that AC isn't needed in most conditions - however those who have been running AC to clear steamed up windows, will argue this; the effort of fans on the windscreen to clear it for the first time without AC is several minutes.

For whatever reason, and i believe it's just dirt, if AC is used to clear a screen, when you stop using it, the first time takes extra effort, so just something to be aware of.
