Inside Hood Mat and Horn HELP!!

Well after alot of off-roading the mat inside the hood is pretty much destroyed, my question is... is it ok to just remove it? I dont want to remove it if it's there for heat deflection purposes or something important... but if it's something u dont really need then i would like to remove it.

Second Question: Also after all the off-roading my horn sounds like s*it. Before it was really loud and strong, but now it is kinda week(sounds like my friends Sentra SE-R) is there anyway to clean/fix it? I thought of taking my powersprayer and shotting up into the horn/radiator area to try and clean it out(my guess is that it has some mud, dirt, etc in it) any help would be GREATLY appreciated

The hood mat is a sound deadener. Ranger horns don't like mud/water - you might be able to clean them but it would probably be better to remove them first.

I've used a pressure washer to clean the underside of the hood before, just make sure to keep the water jet far enough away so it doesnt eat its way through the material.

you could also use quarter wash engine degreaser or high pressure soap and then rinse to get that hood mat clean.

my horn never sounded right after sinking to my headlights one night. i tried removing it to clean it but my girl called and i got distracted from something that was a ***** to do anyway.
