direct wiring for fogs
direct wiring for fogs
One of my stock pigtails isn't recieving voltage (i just bought some fogs). Is it okay if i bypass the relay all together and just wire a circuit directly to the battery that includes a fuse and a cabin switch? if so, which size fuse should i use?
you should use a relay with the fog lights , there are wiring diagrams to do this on the web and onthis site , if you dont there is a potential of a fire .
you need a single pole single throw relay , bosch type . terminal 30 goes to the battery with a 30A fuse , terminal 87 goes to the lights . terminal 85 goes to ground , terminal 86 to turn the relay on and off , it to a switched power in the cab , this is the wire you put you fog light switch on . http://www.classictruckshop.com/club...h/foglites.htm

^^^ This.
Any circuit, such as fog lights, should use a relay (basically it's a high amp fuse, operated by a trigger). The switch you want is the trigger to the relay, and then the relay will have a ground, the 12V input, using appropriate gauge wire (from battery), and the output to the fog lights.
Simple.
