Icon5 Do Rangers have an electronic throttle?

It doesn't take much to know I'm not a mechanic, does it?

Anyway, I'm still on this kick about adding cruise control to 06-09 4 banger XL Rangers and I was just wondering if they have an electronic throttle? I'm asking because I found a web site that sells complete cruise control kits for all Ranger engine types (2.3, 3.0, 4.0), but they were listed as only being for the 1996-2005 model years.

I then sent the site an email asking if the kit would work on 2006-2009 Rangers as well and the e-mail noted "Yes as long as they don't have an electronic throttle, they should be exactly the same". Any advice on the subject?

as Trent said they are a cable setup... the cruise module pulls the cable to keep the speed requested.

see the cable going over to the far left, that goes into a box, thats the cruise control...

Thanks for the quick and kind responses guys. I really appreciate the engine pic too GrafixGuy. Sometimes people don't like to take the time to help a noob like myself.

So basically the cruise kit should work on 06 and newer Rangers then since they still use a cable setup? I really appreciate this guys.

It wont work unless you have the connector behind the windshield washer/coolant overflow bottle. I doubt the XL will have it but check anyway.

LOL...what they told you is completely incorrect for Rangers. lol. They are saying all older Rangers have throttle by wire, which is false. lol

What the hell? I keep getting five different answers about this subject everywhere I ask. I just want to know if it's possible to install cruise control kits like the one linked to below on base model 2006-2009 4-banger Rangers. That's it, really.

Maybe I should just settle for a 4 cyl Escape with CC and all power options then.

That is a universal kit so it should work. Well at least it looks like a universal kit.

He needs to have the connector under the hood to add stock cruise parts. That is what Bob told me.
