Dome Light and Chime Annoyance (not working)

When I open the door the dome (courtesy) light does not come on. To turn the light on I must fiddle with the dimmer switch. Another weird thing is that I need to insert the key into the ignition to make it come on. The door chime and the headlight chimes also do not function.

02 Ranger Super Cab 4 door.

Any ideas? Where should I start?

Also, the chime to signal your keys are still in the ignition does not sound.

I'm not sure which fuse controls these functions. The owners manual does not seem to list these devices on the fuse panel.

A blown fuse does make sense. Perhaps I could just pull them one by one.

also the chime is connected to the seatbelt base. There are 2 wires that signal the chime. The only reason i bring this up is My Pop's wire got cut or somthing and now the chime isnt working.

I can’t find any blown fuses. I notice that there is no button on or near the door, and there is also nothing that that plunges into the body. What I mean is that I only see two hinges and the black tubing for the wires. So, I’m not sure if there ever was a chime for any of that stuff. The seatbelt warning works. *shrug*

Heh, I learned on another forum that the door ajar switch is in the door at the latch. The recommended solution is to spray WD40 on the latch. If that fails, replace the switch. I'm still looking into where that elusive fuse is.

It doesn't work with either door. All the solutions I find are for people who have problems with the dome light staying on. My problem is that it won't come on. The door ajar light doesn't work either. I wonder if someone just cut a wire or pulled a fuse to fix it.

The easist place to cut the YE/BK wire and interrupt the door ajar circuit would be at the GEM. So it might be worth taking a peek behind the Radio where the GEM is located to see if that wire is cut.

I'm looking at a schematic. The switches are connected to GEM post 13 and 14. So you say it's behind the radio eh? I'll look at it.

I used some sort of dry lube that my neighbor had. Graphite or something. It has to be a cut wire or blown fuse.

I went to take a look at the GEM to see if I could find any loose, missing, or cut wires, but the funny thing is that my wrench set has a 6mm, 8mm, and 9-16mm. Guess which one I need? What sort of conspiracy is this!?

Is this the GEM? If it is, there are not cut wires. Perhaps I'll pull the door panels and see if there is any juice going to the switches.
