Hey guys I picked up an 02 Ranger recently for work, and the dome light is horrible! It only turns on when doors open or if the dim switch is scrolled all the way. And when I looked online for a new one, I don’t even see the one I have there.



Question is is can I upgrade mine (first pic) to the second?

Not sure what dome light options Rangers had in 2002?
But just a plain jane dome light would be stock on fleet models for sure

Pull assembly out, it should have a Local Ground wire/screw, and then a black/blue stripe wire that is the 12volt activation wire from interior lamp relay

Then look if there is a light green/orange stripe wire that is not hooked up, thats the 12volt power for Map lights, you need this wire for the above Dome light assembly

 

It’s an extended cab Edge with power everything, I find it hard to believe it came with this janky dome light lol...
