dual batteries in a 2004 Ranger

Has anyone ever succeded in putting a second battery in a 2004 ranger?
I have a 2004 Ranger XLT and have looked under the hood and tried to figure out where and how and could a second battery fit?
Even with some modifications I still can't see it.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this thought?

Thanks
Roger

Why do you feel there's a need for dual batteries??

Just a single deep cycle battery is more than enough for even a winch, stereo, and off road lights all on at the same time.

I tried a deep cycle battery as a main battery and it didn't last in the winter months.
So i want dual batteries as they have always performed in previous vehicles.
I just need to figure out how to squeeze a second battery under the hood.

You might be able to relocate and replace the coolant overflow tank and the wiper fluid tanks. This combined with a modified intake box might make enough room under-hood. Also, no cruise unit on the passenger fender opens up some space too.

Other than major moving of stuff, I've never seen duals in a 98+ ranger. Have you considered mounting the extra battery in the bed? Optima blue tops are 900cca@0F.

why wouldnt a deep cycle battery perform in winter? what the heck are you doing that requires dual batteries? as a mechanic i know there is no reason a good quality battery like an optima cant support anything you are doing with a ranger

just because a rig isnt set up for duel bats doesnt mean anything. most vehicles are set up for one at it. ive considered it, but with a red top im doing ok. i may bump up to an expo alt but thats probly about it
