Engine shaking

Hey all, honestly I’m unsure if this is the right area to post about this problem as I dont know if it’s electrical fuel or what but I’m seeking help. I have a 2000 ford ranger xlt that’s recently given me some issues. The engine has a very noticeable shake at idle all the way up to 1800 rpm. After 1800 rpm shaking goes away. This occurs in park and in drive. If you push the pedal down harder the engine runs and feels fine no weird noises or anything. I’ve changed plugs, wires, coil pack, crankshaft position sensor and the throttle position sensor. I’ve been throwing shots in the wind and am curious if anyone’s had a similar issue or what I should do to better diagnose it. If anyone could chime in with some help I would greatly appreciate anyone’s input. Thanks!

It is easy to mis-route a couple spark plug wires which will cause a bad miss. Your instructions that came with the coil pack should tell you how the wires should go.

there were no instructions on new coil pack from autozone I just followed the same layout from the original one I took off the truck.

The shaking didn’t change from the old coil pack to the new coil pack either, the shaking is the same

Could be a vacuum leak (bad vacuum hose) causing a lean mixture at idle.

No, thank you for the interest. I have not traced all vacuum lines yet to see if that’s the issue, replaced some as they were dried and cracked but have had a rather busy week and haven’t had time to further investigate, going to be working on the truck tomorrow as much as I can to trace/replace any worn out lines and will update when I’m finished tomorrow!

If some were dried and cracked then ALL should be replaced. If you dont do it now you will have this problem again. Might as well bite the bullet and get it all done in one fell swoop. Then you will be good for another 24 years......LOL

Well it’s worse than I thought, cylinder 3 has only 75 pounds of compression so it sounds like I need a new engine… time to 302 swap lol
