i'm hoping Bob or John can help me out on this one... but if anyone else knows, let me hear it!


i've got an Explorer EATC headunit here.. Bob pointed it out months ago on eBay (maybe even a year ago, i don't remember, lol).. anyways, i went ahead and bought it, assumming i'd install it.

i've got toooooo many things gathering up for my "To-Do list," but realistically, i don't think i'm going to be coming across any money for a long time. So, i think i've got to start going through my pile of stuff here, and start to get rid of some..

which brings me to the EATC. again, i bought it on eBay. of course, it said "in perfect working condition..." BUT... before i go ahead and sell it to someone, i'd like to actually test it and make sure it works.... last thing i want to do is sell it to someone here on RF only to find out it's nothing more than a paper weight with buttons.

so.. Bob, or John.. or anyone else that might know.... how would i go about bench testing this thing real fast to make sure it's in good working condition???

This is written for an EATC head unit that is completely wired to all of the sensors, the fan controller and the blend door actuator. If you are just testing the head unit without the peripherals, my guess is that it should perform the self-test the same way but will come up with a number of error codes for the missing parts. All you should need are the power and ground connections.

 

^^^ That's exactly what I would have said too. Just connect it to a 12V source and run the self-test.

But you should really just install it in your truck. It's worth it

 

that involves searching for some parts while buying others.... i dont have time or money for either one of those tasks, lol. (don't talk me into keeping it!!)

EDIT: heres my list of stuff just sitting here waiting to be thrown on.. i dont have the time for any of it though, lol.

1.) E-fan
2.) EATC
3.) 4 Shocks (baught from Zach forever ago)
4.) Lower Ball Joints
5.) Oil.. lol. <---that one i'll do soon.
6.) Spark plugs
7.) Wires
8.) Skid plates
9.) New Sub Box (got the mdf, no time, lol)
10.) Roll Pan
11.) Additional Turn Signals in tails
12.) Wash and Wax the damn thing before the cold hits (getting close for that one)
13.) Herculiner Roll on Bed liner
Plus more that i probably can't think of right now, lol.

again... this list is stuff i've already got the stuff for.. then there's the regular mod list for the near future (AAL's, Body Lift, Wheels, etc, etc..)

i figured... since i need a lot more things for the EATC... i'll just get rid of it before i buy anything else for it.

I just need a weekend locked in the garage by myself with my truck.. no food, no water, no anything! then maybe i could get cought up, lol.

 

Teaching you to test it without the end devices connected is beyond the scope of a forum. You'll just have to decide what to do with it. There's not simple way to tell if it really works "right" or not without the entire system in place.

I did that today! Whoohoo :) I had to skip work to make it happen but I got it done.

I have to replace my e-fan controller, oil, rotate tires, fix third brake light leak, fix my clear corner.

But at least she's clean :)

 

so it's not just me that has that damn 3rd brake light leaking and hasnt gotten around to fixing it...

 

lol... my leak comes and goes, so i haven't bothered to fix it.
