What/how do i wire these seats??i know the odvious but does anyone have power seats...pics? how-to anything would be helpful.....thank you guys...

 

if you look in your owners manual, there is a spot in the power box under the hood behind the battery for the power seats.....the power windows and power door locks are also susposed to be power seats.......just tap into that wire, unknown color, and add a ground somewere around were the wire goes into the carpet....on the driver side, use the seatbelt plug to run the wires into the carpet, then on the passanger side you will have to make a small slice to get the wires into the carpet...

shouldn't need any relays..........my '00 seats had 2 wires that had a plug on them.....i have the 6 way power seats........one was hot, one was ground.....

To get the power adjusters to work, all you have to do is run power to the black/white and black to chassis ground. Most Explorers have a dedicated circuit for the power seat adjusters that uses a 25A fuse and heavy wiring. The rest of the wires may be for memory controls, heaters, seat belt pretensioners, etc., depending on the year and options.

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of using adequately sized wire, properly routed and correctly fused close to the source. If you don't have experience with wiring, get some competent help. A member on another Ranger board recently had an electrical fire because of his homebrew Explorer seat installation.

thank you sir iam going to run a 8Ga wire to both seats and have them running off the secondary fuse panel i put in for all my extra stuff....i have plenty of experence wiring and i really appriciate your input......thanks again..

 

Thank you rwenzing for the help...i got them wired and the joints all soldered up.....used 12ga wire to each seat (seperate) off their own 20amp fuse in the secondary fuse panel that i put in which has a 8ga supply to....
