Fan not blowing on all settings
My fan only blows on 3 and 4. 1 and 2 seem to do nothing. Any ideas?
Also, my fan starting making like a clicking noise the other day like something was in it but it has since gone away. |
Not running on lower speeds is a symptom of a bad blower resistor or a corroded connector at the resistor.
Clicking is usually from leaves or twigs in the blower impeller. |
I saw something about that. Where do I need to look? Under the hood?
|
Under hood. The blower resistor block is screwed into the plenum right next to the blower. Look for a 5-pin connector.

Thanks man. I will take a look when I get home for Thanksgiving and I will post what I find.

Wow, hot stuff.
I need to look at mine since I only have high now. I purchased a new resistor pak and was thinking of the wire lug setup but too cold right now. Thanks for the picture of the connector. |
Holy crap! That's a lot of heat!
|
I remember when my old '97 did the same thing.... at least it's an easy fix!

Any pics of your steps ? |
I went to the junkyard and cut off the resistor plug with wire from a ranger. I used the resistor from the ranger from the junkyard. I tried just plugging in a different resistor but the wiring was shot within the plug. All I did was cut off the old plug and slice on the new one. Only took 10 minutes.
