okay so i have HID fog lights have always had them. i used to have them hooked up to an auxillary switch so they'd stay on when i had high beams on, then the passanger side light will only flicker then shut off every time. so i tried old bulb new ballast, new bulb new ballas and new bulb old ballast. and it will only flicker. i also rewired to the stock fog light switch same thing. havent tested it for voltage yet. anyone had this problem?
I have problems where my halogen bulbs come on and off..always on the driver side. Now I'm not sure if the HIDs are wired the same as the factory halogens, but the sockets get screwed up on them. In the year I've had my truck, I've gone through 5 driver's side bulb sockets and 3 passenger ones. Since they're only $2 from LMC, or free at the junk yard, I've just replaced them over and over since it's so easy.

But on a related note, have you not read about the fog light mod??? It allows you to keep your fog lights on while your high beams are on. It's a FREE mod.

I suggest swapping back to stock wiring, do this mod, then hook the HID's up.
How did you set it up ?
To chk start with the power flow, find out if there is 12v flowing from the red wire to ground.
Then 2) probe both the 12v red wire and the ground black wire to see if the connection at the ground is good or bad.
If #2 gives you no or an intermittent reading you will know your ground is bad.
If your ground is bad, run a new wire back to the battery or a common grounding point near the battery.
I wouldn't suggest using the battery for a ground. I tried it once and it gave me nothing but problems. Drained the battery to the point the alternator couldn't keep up with it and then caused the truck to have all kinds of crazy problems. Fixed it as soon as I moved the wire to another location. Might I suggest using the negative battery cable ground on the front of the engine bay, just in front of the battery. More of the common ground Scrambler was mentioning.
at first i had them hooked up to an auxillary switch. + from battery to switch then from there to one light bridged to the next. each light with its own ground. then i went to the factory switch. same issue. (yes with butt connectors) and same issue. but ive used every combination of new/old ballast and new/old bulb. tomorrow ill get a meter and see whats going on. ill take a look at that link and update findings tomorrow.
And I followed that exact how-to some 8 years ago...
