Fuse issue
Need some clarification. Have 55 watt fogs, 9.2 amp draw. 10 amp should be fine I’ve read, but after 5/10 mins. It pops every time. Wired 14 ga. which again should be fine with 10 amp I’ve also read. Other posts say 15/20 amp with 14 ga.
I’m using switched power in fuse box, when wired to battery I’ve forgotten too many times they were on so AAA was on speed dial. Thanks |
You are most likely running into the problem of heat in the bulbs causing wattage/amps to go up, 55watt rating would be if bulbs were being cooled and not in a housing
Try 15amp fuse A Fuse is there to prevent a dead short from causing a fire from a wire melting With a 9 amp draw you should use a fuse with at least a 50% higher rating, so 13.5amps(15 amp) minimum 14ga wire is OK for up to 10ft with 15amps |
