For offroad tires? Heck no, go with the BFG All Terrains. The Rugged Terrains are soccer mom SUV tires.

RangerJustin, Trigger01 and I use ours as a daily driver and we all run the BFG ATs, there not a super aggressive tire. You can easily get 40k miles out of them. I love mine. Almost all the guys on this site drive there trucks every day.

what's the cost difference between the two? I'm a college student and i probably won't have a steady inome until at least the summer so i'm basically looking for a good buy that's not too far out of my range (which is why i'm looking for good deals,etc)

You can get 32s for 145 a tire if you keep a eye out. I have no clue how much the Rugged Trails are.

I can't seem to find an AAL for an 04 ranger, they only go up to '02s. Is it possible for me to buy an 02 version and put it on my truck?

they are the same actually...i ran them on my 04

i actually dont use mine as a DD only drive it once every week or so...but if it was i would still rock the BFG ATs with a DD

i rock A/T's on a DD... they are fine.. heck you can run BFG muds on a DD your not gona get crazy noise unless you have TSL's or somthing liek them...

what size tires are you going to run? i ran 32s but had to get shackles lift as well...but you can get around that if you take a mallet to your fenders and just bend the lip back further...did that on my new truck as well...takes a few minutes...just FYI...might not need to depending on the BS of your wheels too

not sure yet. I don't know if i want to go up to 32s or get 29/30s

im thinking of the wrangler MT/Rs for my next tire possibly...depends how these BFGs hold up...

i got buckshots for a DD and love them...noise is well...kinda loud but i love it...not bad til 50 or so then jus turn the radio up...

i have BFG AT/s as well. surface area tread is close enough together to do well on street. but far enough apart to grip dirt. but the biggest difference between the RT's and the AT's is the side walls. AT's are built better, stronger, and have more meat to them so if you get low in a hole you dont lose traction, you gain it. Mud Terrains are built the same way as the AT's. But far more aggressive shoulder tread compared to the AT's. where as the RT's dont even have shoulder tread. and Mud Terrains tread pattern itself is designed to "Self Clean" which is why the tread is further apart between lugs. more noise and less durable on street but flings the mud out. Milage between tires i would guess would be RT's 60k AT's 50k MT's 40k

Best bet over all is the AT's. If your worried too much about it being on street, and losing tread or making too much sound, your on street way too much to bother with your truck. if your gonna get RT's, in my opinion, you shouldn't touch anything other than a dirt driveway. Tires are very important key in offroading. If you think about it, the RT's are similar to the stock tires. So you would basicly be putting on a larger stock tire lol.
