Oh boy, A Potentially Cool CB Installation!
So my project is to remove my am/fm antenna and replace it with a 3' Firestik FL3B (the lighter and thinner version). Still in the planning stages, but I really want to put the cb antenna there. Still don't know how much modding I have to do to make this happen since I'm at school and don't have my tools from home with me.
Also the whole point to this is I just don't want to draw added attention to my already sexy truck lol. That's why I'm also going to stick with the Cobra 75WXST CB (Plus I don't have much mounting room between the satellite radio, trans gauge, scangaugeII, and my trailer brake controller. -All being removable except the brake controller and trans gauge-)
Do you guys think that mounting location will work with my cb antenna?
As far as SWR I know a friend that can make it all happen (Big into radios)!!
I just want to know if I can mount/ make it look relatively stock in that location?
Oh and if anyone could post those exact pictures except larger from this link
https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...t=antenna+mast
that would be a lot of help. OR if people have pictures similar to those in that link that would also be a big help. Thanks!
Final side note, to anyone that has made it reading this far. I realize that I am limiting my range in many different ways. However, it will work (it has to work lol) to some degree enough to hopefully, get me out/ hear a mile or two around me (Mainly in front of my truck). Ok im done writing.
Wait no... Comments would be sweeeet. Post UP!!!

Ok so for now am/fm would be disconnected, because I listen to my satellite radio 100 percent of the time anyways. Apparently though, you can use your CB antenna as a FM/AM radio with slightly decreased fm reception, by using a special tri something-something... splitter. I think they cost 20 bucks?

I'm actually still curious if I'll be able to mount my cb antenna where the am/fm one used to be.
Thanks for the help guys! Keep them posts coming!

A stock AM/FM antenna is not even close to 1/4 wave match on CB frequencies and they have no coils. So using that antenna might be easy but it is also a great way to burn out the finals in the radio. The SWR will be off the charts. Transmit range will suck. Receive range will suck. And eventually it will just burn out and die.
