Head light timer?

I have a 98 xlt ranger and was wondering if you leave the lights on, is there a time limit they stay on, or do they stay on until the battery is dead? I know there is a bell to remind you the lights are on.

On my 04 it doesn't. I've left them on for 3 hours at one time then it cranked right up.

If you grab the "auto-dim" mirror out of an Explorer, it usually includes the "auto-headlight" feature as well. There's a write-up floating around on how to wire it up, I think it's in the "submissions" area for tech articles...

That 45 minute timer we have is on the GEM module. It will only shut off the interior light.
