Ok, being the light geek that i am. I spent a good 30 minutes driving all the cars in my household back and forth in the driveway to take these pictures, hah.. well. This post is to show something that has baffled me for SO LONG. ok, the pictures doesn't do any of these lights justice. It is a comparison between my 04 Ranger (outfitted with Silverstars), 01 Honda Accord (Outfitted with Silverstars), and 93 Geo Prizm (stock bulb). Had to throw in my Geo, cuz it was my first ride, i love that thing :D more pictures of that later.

anyways, here is the comparison.

04 Ranger

note: in the 2nd picture, it is actually white, but cuz of camera.. gr! oh! in the last picture, it seems white cuz the ranger is the highest car of the group

01 Honda Accord
note: the clearness of the first picture, that is REALLY bright. and in the 3rd picture, notice a light tint of green or really bright white.

93 Geo Prizm
note: the lights are actually very yellow in person.l

so what does this prove: NOTHING! NOTHING from these PICTURES!!! GR!! gah, thought i can capture it in the pictures, but i can't. if someone was actually here in person, you'd be like.. "ooohh!!!" but dammit. but yea, makes some interesting pictures. So the in my quest to find the answer to my baffling question: why is the accord so much brighter than the ranger (they are both silverstars)

yea, i thought so too, but it's actually cuz the ranger is higher, so it seems like it's lighting up more. actually... it's not as bright. .it's more yellow than the accord

One of those days...

The accord LOOKS brighter because all of it's light is hitting the driveway giving the illusion of a lot of light. Really, it is just actually hitting something so it looks brighter.

The ranger is up higher so the majority of the beam is going over the driveway and hitting the garage wall. The garage wall is much smaller than the whole surface area of the driveway and lawn, therefore there appears to be less light. I bed if you aimed your truck's headlights down, it would have the same effect as the lower honda's lights.

hm.. you have a good point on that one, however, if you look at the headlights next to each other (i've done this.... maybe 20 times), the accord one is SO MUCH brighter than the ranger. the ranger is real bright, but the accord is MUCH brighter

Could also have to do with the design of the reflector. Reflectors make or break a light.

Honda makes a great light. The reflectors are very polished and they use seperate housings and bulbs for low/high beam. Two lamps with double elements can not compete against four lamps with seperate reflectors. I drive both, a 2002 Honda Accord and LIL BLUE a 2004 Ranger.

and yes lilblue, i really, REALLY enjoy driving the accord, because it's so quick. I remember staying 2 weeks in Santa Barbara (driving the ranger) and then going home and driving the accord. Man! i forgot how little i have to push the throttle to let it go, and it's an I4 Auto4 !! :D
