efan turns off/on frequently

I recently noticed that my JM eFan will come on with any following dial settings: Both Defrost settings and A/C. The thing about it is, the fan does not stay on constantly. It will turn on/off quite frequently. The fan comes on for about 30 seconds; if that, then it turns off for about a minute and comes back on. It bugs me because I don't want to put wear on the fan like that and I don't like how it draws power (on/off)... It is like a kid playing with a light switch :D

I tapped into the grey/white wires for the A/C control. I was wondering if this is because I tapped into the grey/white wire? How would the fan function if I tapped into the purple, or would it?

What I am ultimately wanting to do is have the fan run continuously when the A/C and defrost are on and not off/on. I was trying to research this and I have found something that stood out to me... It may not even be related to my question, but I am trying to decode this; my brain is just too weak.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a difference between the two.

Going to the purple wire turns the fan on continuously whenever A/C compressor operation is allowed (5 of the 8 possible selector positions).

Wiring to the hot side of the A/C clutch turns on the fan when the compressor clutch is actually commanded.

[The fan t-stat can, of course, override this and turn the fan on whenever the radiator temperature exceeds the fan t-stat set point, regardless of what the A/C trigger is doing.]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is this telling me that the purple wire in fact will keep this fan on during A/C and defrost settings? It mentions all 5-8 selector positions... does this mean it will also stay on continuously with heat/vents selected? I don't quite understand what they are saying in regards to the hot side of the A/C wire. Could someone explain this in tard terms for me?

we have better controllers now that cost us about twice as much as the others, with a kit price increase less than what covers it.

edit: i can see how that may seem directed explicitly towards chris, and thats not the case. everyone's entitled to their opinions, and i will never think less of anybody for them

The gray/white will make the fan cycle on every time the compressor clutch field coil has voltage applied.

The purple will make it run continuously whenever the A/C selector switch says that compressor operation is allowed.

One gives you excessive on/off cycling of the fan motor and the other causes unnecessary continuous fan operation. Neither is an ideal solution but there are no other choices without adding more controls to the existing system.

The selector switch tells the PCM (by way of the purple wire) that it's permissible to run the A/C in several modes.

AC compressor operation allowed:
Max AC
AC
Vent/Floor
Floor/Defrost
Defrost

AC compressor operation not allowed:
Vent only
Floor only
Off
