Wow, those night guides look pretty neat. Might have to try them. They look like they'd be a nice offroading bulb with the extra light they throw to the side and all.
I wonder how they last? |

I think there the same as xtravision, phillips has a new bulb called blue vision that is vey similar to silverstar but a lil more blue tint, I had some and they are pretty good. I just saw these there 2 they are called nightGuide 3 in 1 bulb |
I have had good luck with the piaa extreme white, along with a suvlights.com harness upgrade.
|
Yes, and I wouldn't run them without that, lol. I've known quite a few people toast their sockets if they didn't upgrade. Ranger harnesses and sockets are ka-ka.
|
yeah i got some 100/80w bulbs they roasted my stock hareness...never again
|
those nightguides are definitly worth a try. nice...
|
Well I was runnin Nokya 80/100W and I noticed that they melted a lil part of my new diamond cut lights( I guess the aftermarket aint as tuff) So I'm using cool blues :(
As of now the phillips Night Guides are only available online. Auto-Zones around here dont carry them yet, but they carry blue visions :) |
I have the Cool Blues....im sure they arent as bright as silverstars but they still look ok...they pretty much suck when its raining tho....they look ok, my cousin says he hates driving in front of me at night lol.

www.plasmagarage.com....They have HID conversions for $350 i have them in my ranger i wont go back to halogen bulbs ever again...I love my HID's, there single beam but just as bright as your high beams, and there purple so they look just like a Benz or Bemer

HID Driving Lamps
Hey folks, looks like there is a sale on for the HID Driving Lamps!
http://www.suvlights.com/index.php?cPath=55_22 If I had an extra $300.00 I'd buy them! |
I have the Silverstars in my 93 Ranger
You can see EVERYTHING with your high beams on. The difference was, no pun intended, Night and Day! |
Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in..
I've had the silverstars in several other cars and decided to put some in the new ranger tonight. I can't say it made as much a difference as it did in the Lightning or the caddy. But it's definately better.. and especially noticable in the fogs. Price is coming down too. I got the 9007s at wal-mart for $36ish and the 9145s at advance auto for about $15 a piece. btw: I took some pics.. but am a bit disappointed. Standing there you can plainly see the difference from one side with SS and the other with stocks. But in the digital pics it just does'nt show up? Rich |
I've got a set of PIAA 115 watts headlight bulbs, how do they compare?
http://www.piaa.com/Bulbs/Bulbs-9000.html |
I put the APC's in my fogs and there was a HUGE difference. Gonna do the heads later this week. I also put them in wify's van, way brighter than the cool blues I had in there.
Will be doin' my heads tonight or tomorrow. will post. ...Also, I was thinking of drilling a hole right under the bulb in the housing and glueing a blue LED in there to get a whiter light...anybody try this? I'll be the guinnea pig if I must. |
How crucial is upgrading the harness..? like If I were to put the xtravisons on my 99, would I run a risk, or it would prob be ok?
|
Do a simple search for 9007 HID Conversion kits on eBay. I just bought mine at 4300k (the brightest you can get them). Paid about $167 for mine for a $500 kit. So you do the math. Well worth it.
|
I just got through installing an HID kit in my 98 Ranger. Ordered my kit from:
http://www.stangmods.com/Mustang-Bi-...68-bixenon.htm With this kit, it allows you to have low and high beam function. Yes, the site is for mustangs, but the mustang uses 9007 bulb just like my Ranger. They look great and are bright as hell. I have the 6000K ones. The install was pretty easy. The hardest part was removing the battery and the Filter box so I could get access to the bulbs. |
headlihgts
I bought the Basic replacement halogen and when I installed them afterwards I notice the highbeam indicator light on the dash stays on whenever I have the headlights on and I think I messed withthe alignment of the head light cause they are giving me hell when I try to re-adjust them., the only reason I changed them is after driving about 45 minutes and turning off the truck, I would go to restart it and turn on the headlight s the low beam were out but the highbeams worked I knowe I pissed off alot of people but I can not figure out why it happened so I replaced the headlights and the result was high beams constantly according to the dash and the lights are way out of linei may have some time off friday to go to the ford dealer and have them check it out,I will keep you posted on the results.
Later Twisted Ranger |
Sounds like a wire came undone somewhere at the pigtail or something that goes to your low beams, or there's a fuse that goes to your low beams on both sides ( 2 different fuses, one for each side)
The bi-xenon's aren't any different that regular HID's, they just come with a little solenoid that switches the beams location from down lower, to a high beam position... that's the most common so called "bi-xenon"... The more expensive ones come with an HID low beam bulb and high beam halogen, and even then, those aren't always that great |
adding to my headlight dilema when I turn the head lights on high beam the lowbeams are on and when it is on low beams the are on? Funky HELP
|
You probably melted your multi-function switch. That would be the turn signal/highbeam/wiper control lever. Did you by chance put in bulbs that were high wattage?
|
Put silverstars ultras in my headlights and the regular in my fog lights dont notice that much brighter than stock other then the light being white havent drove in fog with them yet anyone notice that same thing too ?
|
I noticed it, But they aren't bright enough for me now. I'm about to take the evil route and go HID.
