I own a 1999 ford ranger 4.0L v6. Just did the valve cover gaskets, and now my AC won't blow through the top vents! I don't know what I did. It worked great before I did the gaskets. Now it will only blow through the bottom vents by my feet. It's still cold, but won't come through the top vents. Please help! What could I have possibly done to cause this to happen? Thanks for your advice!

 

If you haven't already, my first guess would be to check vacuum hoses. Similar thing happened to me and I had to fiddle with them and the heater control valve. I'm sure others will have more knowledge on it though.

Loss of vacuum to the A/C system will cause the vents to default to the defrost. Make sure you have the vacuum lines connected from the intake manifold to the 3" diameter black ball (vacuum canister) on the passenger side fender well, you have to look way down to see it. Then make sure the other line at the ball is connected and going to the firewall. At the same spot on the firewall where this enters there should be another line coming out that attaches to the heater control valve.

problem solved! Shelton you are a genius! it was exactly as you said, that freaking thing in the fender, got it reconnected and voila! AC is brand new again. Thanks boss!
