'06 fuel filter

I have an '06 Ranger. I want to put a spin on marine filter on her. Does anyone know what the second fuel line is for coming off the filter on the tank side?

Why can't they just put spin on marine or racing gas filters on new vehicles? Liability issues?

Thanks in advance.

I appreciate your thoughts but....
I replaced my OEM gas filter on my 1994 S-10 with a marine filter.
1. It cost $100 for filter assembly and hoses to fit.
2. OEM filters were $16 a pc, marine filter is $11 a pc
3. 170,000 miles and my fuel pump had never been replaced. Those are about $175 plus labor.
4. What is that Massey Furgason (?) act? Can't void my warranty or Ford has to pay for OEM filters.

I figure the money I saved on fuel pumps was worth it.

Massey Ferguson is a company that makes tractors and other agricultural machinery.

I think that you are referring to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Apparently, you need to read it.

It DOES say that you cannot have your entire vehicle warranty voided because of a modification that only affects certain areas of the vehicle. But it DOES NOT say that you can modify your vehicle anyway you like and not have warranty claims denied on systems that are impacted by those modifications.

The manufacturer cannot require you to use its replacement parts as a condition to keep the warranty in force. However, a manufacturer can insist that any parts used are equivalent to OEM parts. Your opinion may be that a marine filter is as good or better but, clearly, a marine filter is not equivalent to the OEM fuel filter.

Good luck if you have a fuel system problem and try to get warranty coverage with a non-equivalent filter installed.
