HELP HELP: No Wipers! or Radio

to start I have a 2004 Supercab, 4.0L 4x4. After market radio

My radio the bast couple of months my radio would occasionally loose power with the key off and I would lose all my presets. well the past couple of weeks it would do it alot. This past week while driving all of a sudden the radio just went dead, I thought ahh crap this sucks, I got to where I was going took the radio out wiggled the wires and radio came back on. well its done it a few times now and then today I got in turned the key and no radio. so i messed with it for about 10 mins and the radio would not come back on. So I came home and on my way home I found out. My wipers or Washer wouldnt work at all.

I got home ran down all my fuses and they are all good.
The connection on the plug from the radio the battery wire looked like it had gotten kinda hot.
Opened the hood ran all the fuses down and they were all good.
Neither relay clicked when I pushed the switch or turned the ****.

I have had no other electrical problems
And this is the first time the wipers have done this.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated

This is my radio Harness. This is the part that plugs into the factory harness Yellow wire is battery feed

The brown pin on the plug is the battery feed

Factory Harness. Far right bottom hole is battery feed

look on the factory harness for some type of the insulation being cut burnt or pinched. if you cannot find anything try a new harness.it looks like its the radio u had in it is what causeng the problems.Put an new harness on it when u do fell the wires to see if they get warm.

it looks like you had a loose connection there and the electrical power is "jumping" around bridging the gap between the male and female ends. that will cause it to get hot in a hurry

Right now my radio is not hooked up. But I would imagine the wipers should still work with no radio plugged in, I would think that they are different modules and it would not really matter if the radio was plugged in or not.

I am gonna go get the new radio harness today and see if that fixes the radio issue than I will try to go to the yard tomorrow to snag a multifunction switch to see if that helps anything.

I hope I get them working soon cause even though the Escape gets better mileage and smoother ride, I like my truck, And it is spossed to rain all next week.

And to answer the who installed question. It was me, Ive done many radio installs in the past and I did mine too

well id try replaceign the fuse for the radio even if it dosent appear to be blowen. w/o hooking the radio up. why i ask who put it in is if someone else put it in you wouldnt have to buy a new harness they should fix it.

I see. Yeah I tried the putting new fuses in even though they appear to be un-blown cause ive encountered the "trick" fuses (as I like to call em) before

Not sure on the newer model rangers, but the radio and wipers run off of the GEM Module.

Im going monday to find a multi function switch at the yard. I hope that fixes it,

However say if I need a GEM, is that something that has to be programed to my truck, also can it be used.

Well I put the factory radio in the truck. Plugged it up, turned the key and nothing with the radio. I pushed the eject button and it acted like it wanted to eject a CD and the clock came on for about 15 secs then went off. The Clock button turns the clock on too for a few secs.

Nothing else works on it

It acts like its not getting any power from the battery feed wire.

Soo the multi-function switch is good.

I am going to take it to the ford dealer tomorrow and hope they can figure it out and fix it for a decent price.

I know decent and dealer dont fit together in the same sentence
