Icon5 Help Locating parking light or headlight wire for HU

My Kenwood 995 has an auto dimming feature, but its not hooked up. The unit is way too bright at night...

The HU has a orange and white wire for its auto dimmer.
In the manual it says this wire should be connected to the cars "light control switch".

i assume on my 2007 i should look behind the headlight switch from under the dash, which wire exactly am i looking for?

Well I just looked REALLY close to the 995 display.
And sure enough when the parking lights go on, the display dims in the most minuscule amount.

How could they be so foolish in the design of this thing.
