how do you keep your sandbags from moving around??

i just put my sandbags back in my truck but they keep slideing around.
i want them to stay over the axle on each side, i had a thing built out of 2x4's last year but it always moved on me and flew up into the 3rd brakelight when i had to come to a fast stop. i have four bags but i only have two in now.

any ideas would be helpful :dead1:

also a few pics of this thingy my gf got me, i hung it from my mirror lol.

RangerBoy03FX4 11-03-2006 09:42 PM

dont get caught with that by the cops. thats an obstruction of view and youll be back in court, again. lol.

it only lights up when you wack it. i really dont think the cops would care but idk. it hangs right under the mirror and really isnt in the way.

um ya i never put anything in the bed in winter...

Mark98xlt 11-04-2006 01:22 AM

I have 2 slots in my bedliner one in front of the wheel well and one after it I Use 2x6's made like a box with for it with 2x6's connecting in the middle to hold it together because without them the 2x6's will fall out of the slot.

PW01 11-04-2006 01:33 AM

My bed extender holds them perfectly

RockysFord 11-04-2006 02:31 AM

I dont put my bags in my truck anymore.....

But they sell little things that lock in your spaces of the plastic bedliner, i will see if i can find some, they wedge in there and you can mount your tool box with them so it doesnt slide around..

If those were hitting your back window when you stopped.........I'll just leave that alone....LOL

O.k, I see you have a bedliner. As stated previously, there should be slots before and after the wheel wells to slide in a 2x6.....why 2x6? You could even go 2x12's, anything tall enough to keep you weights from jumping over them. Mine have never come out of the slots, but eveyone has different stories.

That will keep your weights from moving around. Remember, you want the weight over the rear axle, not behind it. Common mistake for most. For more info and examples of how much weight.....before you ask......click the SEARCH button. This has been discussed a million times before around this time.

goto google and search for a product called shur trax. its a ruber bladder that you fill with a little water and your set to go.

RockysFord 11-05-2006 07:04 AM

^That works good too until the water freezes....then if you need to remove it its a pain in the ass.....a friend of mine had one..

I dont think they are suppose to let the water freeze but it still did

I hope it's ment for the water to freeze. That would really hurt sales from the mid states and up to Canada.........BTW, why would you have that in the summer?? Plenty of traction then......LOL

Yes they are ment for water to freeze. Bladder and water go in in the fall.......water freezes for the winter.......when you take it out in the spring, the water is unfrozen and out it goes. People need weight in thier trucks bed in the winter.....2wd or 4wd....a pick up is a pick up.....light in the @ss.
Some people use weight, others don't....to each thier own I guess.

jorlee 11-05-2006 07:39 AM

Just slide the bags all the way to the front of the bulkhead. Simple as that and safest when braking hard. Seem to work the same no matter where they are placed.
