was just looking at buying a used 4.0L from a 93 ford ranger XL and the guy sais it has 97682 miles, which is great...but my question is how do you tell if theyve rolled over cause the gauge only goes 5 digits and wouldnt actually show 197826 or 297826...etc. He said you can tell cause the first two numbers (97) would only be turned half way over if its 197826. seems a little odd to me so is there any way you can tell if its been rolled over??? thanks

 

One easy way is to take a look around the lower part of the engine. Does it look like 197xxx miles of dirt and grease. Its not a sure fire way to find out but it can help.

 

i had my carfax report in the smog section say something about abnormal odometer reading.

i frogot what it said i need someone to do it for me again. i asume mine 164k on my 4.0 94

 

how worn the brake/clutch pedals are is another good indication
