Icon9 Need Location of AC Cutout (WOT) Relay ? 92 Ranger

I cant find the AC Cutout (wot) realy on my 1992 Ranger. I just retrofitted my 92 Ranger to R-134 and everything seemed great. Then after 10 Min. on the freeway the AC compressor clutch shuts off. If you keep going it cuts back in after a while and then out again. I.m pretty sure the engin control computer is shutting it down via the WOT AC Cutout relay but I cant find the darn thing. Anybody know where thats at??
Thanks
Mike

Look inside the power distribution box on the passenger side fender apron and you should see three large relays. The one closest to the front is the WOT Cutout Relay.

Not in Aux power box !!??

I don't see any relays in that box at all, only several large Fuses. Could it be mounted under the Aux power box, like upside down ??

Are you sure the charge is right? If the system is overcharged or undercharged the A/C compressor will cycle erratic to protect itself from operating with low freon or with high pressure. If your A/C worked with R12 and doesn't work all of a sudden now I wouldn't be looking for a part that failed, I'd be looking for a charge issue or something to that affect.

Didn't work with R-12

Unfortionatly I don't know how it worked with R12. Its my Daughters truck and she bought it with the AC not working at all. It was way under pressure(like no pressure) so I retrofitted it to R134 and put in R134 with leak seal. I used about 3cans of R134 and 1 can of Oil. I Evacuated the ssystem first and it seemed to hold the vacume OK. I checked it with a Freon Sniffer and cannot locate any leaks. When the compressor is running it cools really well and I get about 60 LB on the low side and over 225 on the high side (at about 85degrees ambient temp.) I think.(those numbers are APPX and from memory) I dont actually think the Cutout relay is "bad". But I would like to see if that is what is shutting the compressor down to narrow my troubleshooting direction. perhaps some false or incorrect input going to the computer is causing it to shut down the compressor prematurely. Do you know what conditions cause the AC cutout to "cut out". I think low manifold vacume might do it ( like when you floor it going up a hill) and possably engine water overtemp?? I was thinking of jumpering it out to see if the problem goes away. What does "WOT" stand for ?? (Water Over Temp is all I can think of). Any other Ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

That could be. I don't have a 92 here to look at.

The best information I have is that the harness connector is located "Center of RH fender apron, in power distribution box, on WOT cutout relay". That's word for word out of the 1992 Ranger factory wiring book. The picture in the same book is not the best but it seems to confirm that location.

Have same issue with my 1990 Ford Ranger 2.9 L A/C relay.. This is many years after this trhread started, but figured I would add pics of diagrams under hood of the AC relay location as well as other relays and fuses. To access the AC relay, have to get under the fuse block on RT inder fender apron, near battery. Remove the two 8 mm screws that attach it. You can then lift it up enough to get at all three relays underneath. Then just pull the fuse out while still connected to the wiring, Then remove the relay from the wiring after lifting the little plastic retainer on the side. ..
