Looking to buy HID's......Need help please!
I've been reading the HID threads lately and now I want some too! The problem is my 95 Ranger has older style lenses, not the projector kind. Do I need to buy new lenses before the kit? Thanks.

Ok thanks guys, I did'nt know that. I guess they're clear lenses then? I was thinking of getting the clear diamond lenses and an HID kit. Will that be good for my truck?
My lenses are starting to yellow.

I replied to you in the hid thread....
But.....
You don't need projectors to run HIDs.....you just need to aim them down a little bit. But for you being a 93-97 truck, projector housings are avaliable in the aftermarket.....and since your lenses are yellowing, just get new housings. Us '01+ guys are stuck with no option but total customization to the stock housings, as there's no avaliable projector out there for us. I have 4300k hids in my stock housings, and have my aiming up high......and never been flashed but twice...buy the same guy, at the same time, on the same stretch of road, on a different day. I don't understand why folks stare at oncoming traffics headlights.
ebay has your projector housings......but again, you don't need them. There will be naysayers, as there always is. The ebay ones have a socket for a stock bulb, and then a projector as an aux light. "ranger projector" is what I searched.

The differnce is proper light distribution and a clear cut off line....the light wont be scattered like it is in a regular halogen housing. I am in the works of trying to find a set of big projectors to mod my extra set of headlamps.
Sorry about that Fx4, I thought no one answered me on that thread so I started another thinking I'd get an answer here......lol. Thanks for the information because I thought I needed the projector style lenses like the ones you posted here.
BTW: Maybe the guy just recognizes your Ranger and is trying to freak you out. Ever thought about that? Could be a chick trying to check you out?

Oh okay got ya..so basically without the projector the lights will be blinding people worse lol
I wouldn't say ' blinding '.....with a projector, the light is evenly dispursed.....with a halogen housing, the light is scattered...with highs and lows of intensity. I need to come up with pics.....I think Fitts has a projector shot posted today...
Chappman....you are a lucky one as well....you've got the option for projectors avaliable in the aftermarket. Lucky dog.

Here's Captain Obvious's current chevy projector swap thread....this is with one headlamp....notice the clear cut off line. Compare it to your halogen or your hid in a halogen housing.
I think RangerJustin or whatever his name is......the one that put led tails on his truck.....runs those projector headlamps with the two seperate holes. I am unsure as to what bulb type those projector holes are for. Would like to find out though.
Ok, thanks guys. I think I'll post a question up on e-bay and see if one of those guys can tell me. I'll let you know what I find. There's gotta be a reaon why there's two holes in them while OEM only has one.
04BlackEdge,
Do you mean the smaller inside hole?

Yep, the smaller one. I already told you the reason for the two holes, it's if someone doesn't want to use the projector feature the can still use the stock headlight bulb in the bigger hole.
Sorry. I must be brain dead or my PC is'nt showing me all posts because I did'nt see that post of yours telling me, and I missed one from Fx4wannabe ealier.
I found a website that clearly stated: "Projector headlights are not to be used with HID kits".
Edit: I'm pretty sure I can use the HID kit with the regular size bulb in the projector lenses. That's what I'm going to order. Thanks guys!

Okay...im workin a little slow also..lol. If I got projector lights for mine...the hid setup would work through the projector bulb on low and hi beam? and the regular spot would be my regular existing headlights? When would that part be lighting anything? I def. want those hid's running on low and hi beams. And ya I feel lucky that I can get them but not so lucky that I aint got a penny extra at the moment! haha
When you install the HIDs you unplug the harness from the stock bulb, you wouldn't even need to have the stock bulb in. Thats only if you don't run HIDs with that housing, so you can use the stock bulb instead. You'll only be using the projector lense. Make sure you buy the dual beam(high/low beam) Hids if you want both beams.
