Loud noise from rear end. Help!!!

Hey guys I have a 96 Ranger XL 2.3L. Whenever I back up, I hear this loud like screaching noise almost like a rubbing type noise. It basically sounds like an airhorn, just obviously not as loud. Seems to happen more when it is wet outside and like I said it is only when I am backing up. Any ideas. I had my drums cleaned and re-adjusted a couple weeks ago. I have no idea what it could be!!!!!!! Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!!!

Danny

Put your left hand on the parking brake release.
Back up and recreate the noise.
Press parking brake gradually. Use it to slow and stop the truck. Parking brake is a cable liinkage to the rear drums only.
Note change in noise or not.

Remove drums and verify proper installation of brake parts.
Look for scoring on the drum surface, loose parts, etc.

Hopefully nothing has come apart in there. I had a spring pop off and acted just like wat your describing and it dug a deep gouge in my drum.

If it's that loud. It's most likely the brakes.

.... when I read the title of this thread I thought this was going to be a MUCH DIFFERENT thread ....

In which case, I'd advise laying off the Mexican food for a week or so.
