need help with HID's
i just bought a set of 35watt 6000K dual beam HID's from the local china shop, For my 2009 ford ranger sport. It was all plug and play so i set to work after a while i finally got them to turn on, and thye worked fine, however ftr i got in my truck drove ot the store and got out i noticed both the lights were off.
I found out from someone that they might not be getting the right amount of power, due to the fact they were just plugged into the factory harness. So i went back to the store and found out they sold a seperate wiring harness to power the lights.
The problem was it was made for a 9004, so i had to splice the wires. So i did and used a set of butt conectors for the splice. The other flaw was that it needed 2 grounds, and a power spot, i hooked the positive to the terminal in the fuse box, and the first ground i hooked up with the batteries ground, on the header panel. As for the second ground i couldn't locate a good spot so i just bolted it down with the bolt that holds my horn in place, surprise surpirse i get nothing out of the lights now. does anyone have any ideas. or does it sound like the lights are fried. I'm new to this auto wiring stuff it was probably my stupid grounds but i just thought i'd ask to see if anyone else has any good ideas first. also does anyone know if theres any good factory ground spots near the passenger side driving lights.
here is a pick of the full kit you can see the splice wrapped in the blue butt connectors.

i grounded mine to a bolt hole under the airbox on the passenger side just scrap alittle paint off also are you sure you rewired them right here is a diagram just incase
cant really see the color of your wires going into the blue plug if you dont have a blue and have a red then the red is highbeam all the kits ive seen have been red, white, black or blue, white, black

If your daytime running lights are trying to come on it'll damage the bulbs. Not sure if that's your problem or not, but the drl lights are low power and not enough to run the HID's and it's not good for them when the drl's are sending them power.. you need to pull the fuse if you have one for your DRL's, or run with your parking brake on one click.
Where your ground wire is on the horn, just make sure you scrape a little paint off behind it to make a good connection. If you have a multimeter you can use it to check the continuity of your grounds, splices and stuff and check for power at the bulbs.

ok to clear up a few things first off i have 2 blue plugs one for each harness on either side second i messed up by saying it was a 9004 it is infact a 9006 it does not have a cable for the high beam because these are dual beam HID's, the low beams are HID 6000k but the highbeams are regualr halogen bulbs. all built into one. i had to splice the 9006 low beam positive wire into the low beam red poistive wire on the hid light and i spliced the 9006 negative wire into the hid's negative.
