Magnaflow installed, quick question

Hey all,
I got my magnaflow off-road pro exhaust installed. I have a quick question though.

The part of the pipe that connect using a flange to the catalytic converter pipe doesnt fit straight on, I don't think its leaking or anything, but I can't get it to sit perfect. I've tried twisting and shifting, but its the best I can get.

I attached some pics of what I'm talking about. It doesn't look like a problem, but I wanted to make sure just in case.

Frank

I had the same problem and it actually developed to an exhaust leak. I had to have the flange redone. The problem is that the flange is a little different so it doesn't fit just right, or at least on mine.

How long did it take for the leak to develop? I'll go see muffler man asap to get it looked at.

Not long at all, I'd say a few days. Besides hearing it, you can easily tell if you see a black area somewhere around the flange.

How bad for the engine is it if I can"t get it fixed right away?

None, it's just an irritating noise. It won't actually hurt anything though.

Wirelessly posted

Not a big deal. Cut both flanges off and weld them together

Hard to explain, have you heard a car with a hole in the muffler? Kind of like that.

I don't have a welder, and am not very good at it anyway. I'd rather get it done properly.

In my opinion, welded is best. I don't care for clamps and flanges. They make it so anyone can install the exhaust, but nothing beats welds. Never have to mess with exhaust leaks. Besides, every muffler shop I have ever gone to has always welded the connections anyway.

I have the same muffler and since the begining I went for the welded option. More than a year running without issues.

Yeah, I'm gonna give Muffler Man a call today and go see if I can get it welded.

It sounds a lot better in person. It's a little louder than I thought it would be, but I'm getting used to it. You don't really hear it when you're just cruising around, only when you press the gas really. I find first and second gears to be a lot louder than the others.

You don't need to weld it (won't hurt anything if you do.)

Open the joint, spread some sealer (Permatex Ultra Copper for instance) inside the opening on the exhaust pipe, then re-attach.

Let it dry for a while before you drive it.
