maxitrip vs. scangauge

I was thinking of picking up a Scan Gauge, and came across this.

maxitrip auto computer | Diagnostic Tools | Auto Repair | Tools | Princess Auto

Does anyone have one? Is it much different is it?
I saw in the Q & A on the site that it won't work on Macs, anyone know if a Scan Gauge will?

Been thinking about getting a Scangauge II just to see if I could manage 30mpg - best mileage I've been able to get so far, without the help of a scangauge, was 28.7 and 29.0 MPG. That's with a 2.3 duratec, automatic transmission...and my regular 75% highway daily drive. Usually average about 1,500 miles/month.

I actually did end up getting the SGII a little while ago for $150. I was just wondering about that other one when I posted this back in November because it was on sale for like 80 or 90 bucks or something.
