Milky white oil dipstick
Milky white oil dipstick
Ok i was going to check my oil and i pulled out the dipstick and noticed it was milky white. Now having a little bit of a mechanical background i automatically thought it was because of a head gasket . I attend highschool im taking an automotive course so i had a shop at my disposal. I brought my truck in the shop and done a compression test. i tested all 6 cylinders and they were around the same compression i dont know the specific specs because i dont have a repair maunal yet but they ranged from 150-170 near about the same. which bring me to my delima i dont understand what else could be causeing the problem. if anyone could help me out in this i would greatly appericate it!
if it is not a headgasket then it could be from driving short distances and not letting the truck completely warm up. Happens in the winter sometimes.
I would change your oil though, then see if it happens again

I had this issue the first year i got my truck it was also winter except i didn't notice it on the dipstick but on the cap itself. I think your issue is what camodown said b/c when i first got my truck i would pretty much just drive to work which is a 3 mile trip but now i do a **** ton of driving lol and have not noticed it anymore.
Pressure test the cooling system. Look at what the pressure is rated at on the radiator cap, pump it up to that psi. If it holds, it's probably not a head gasket. If it doesn't hold, check for an external leak somewhere. If you don't find one, it's probably a head gasket.
OTOH, it could be exactly what Casey said.
Check and see if you've lost any coolant, could be another sign.

The track ***** does this pretty bad if it doesn't get nice and warm and driven alot. Course then it can also fill up a gallon jug with H20 from the breather in about a week....
Short trips are the worse thing you can do to your truck.
