My truck wont start either, similar to evan's

yesterday i went offroading and went trought some mud puddles and after the red battery light on the gauge stays lit when ever the engine is on. I was driving home tonight and the radio and gauge light started to dim then turned off and the battery gauge went to low, and when i got home i tryed to start it again, and it just clicks. I think it's the alternator, is it?

and you think i can take it to ford under warrenty? haha it really really clean now after i spent 4 hours getting all the mud out. and if it is how would i get it to the dealer?

thanks

i would try to jump start it first and let it run to see if the altenator charges the battery..also check the fuses

Im sure that would be covered

All I did was get a new battery....but take it to the dealer and they can probably tell you the problem.

Edit: But if it was my alternator....i'll tell you in a couple days....lol

When my alt went bad from mud the batt light was on whenever the engine was on. It all happened the same day as I was driving the truck started acting weird: the lights dimmed, the radio stopped working, it idled erratic, then it finally died. The next day my dad charged the battery and it only lasted for the 15-20min drive to the dealer.

Weird...When I left work two days ago my truck was dead, nothing when I turned the key. I got a jump from a coworker, drove home...the radio kept turning on and off, the truck would i want to say stall and kick over again but i never had to restart it, and the speedo would jump when at a stop. When I got home, I turned it off, tried turning it on again and nothing. I popped the hood and the night before i had wired up the winch cable (probably wrong) so I disconnected that and presto, started right up. I read up some more on the wiring the winch and figured out i had connected the positive to positive on the battery but the other connection to the chassis and not the negative lead on the battery. I will try that tonight I guess to see if that works. I'm guess the way I wired it drained the battery somehow...but where did the power go???
