windsheild wiper blues/ electrical issues

driving home today my wipers stopped in mid swipe. the fluid motor will pump when the end of the signal stalk is depressed but no wiper action. no wiper action when they are turned on but the amp gauge "ticks" like the motor is drawing current to move the wipers.

the wipers are not stuck it is 50 outside and they were working driving home.

any ideas? these rangers have a serious electrical gremlin!!!!!!

help nplease

This happened to me on my 86 ranger. Firstly, you can try to lightly hit the motor with a rubber mallet. If this doesnt get it unstuck, then the magnet inside the motor could possibly be broken. Generally speaking you may have to buy a new motor.
