Out of allignment. Cam kit?

So i have had some bad camber for a while (tires look like this / \). I took it to the schwab and they alligned it as much as they could but its still not within specs. they did not say anything about a cam kit but i have heard about it a little on the forums. is this something i could use to get it all the way alligned? i do have a 4" superlift if that makes a difference.

Fx4wannabe01 07-03-2008 03:16 PM

Yes.....the new superlifts come with cam washers.

I still have yet to install my cam bolts, but i bought Ingalls cam bolts from Summit. My brother runs those on his slammed ride, and i'll run them on my lifted ride as well. You need to order 2 of them. Each box comes with 2 bolts, and you need 4 total bolts, so quanaity of 2 must be ordered. Bought them from Summit.

I got mine from RockAuto.com

MudSlanger 07-03-2008 03:40 PM

summt racing sells great ingalls ones. I have them on my truck and love them, The shop i took it to had no problems aligning my front suspension... buy 2 sets, 1 for each side. Easy and quick install too.

Fx4wannabe01 07-03-2008 03:41 PM

Yea...suprised that schwaabs didn't say anything about it. When I was getting prices, they wanted something like $100 for install and purchase of the $20 bolts! I can't believe that they didn't try to sell you those. weird. If you are in portland this weekend or whatever, you can buy my bolts for my truck, and i gotta make an order through summit anyway....

I bought mine at the local ABC Auto parts store.

Woods-Rider 07-03-2008 05:34 PM

Shane, are you saying you want to add 2 sets to my order (if i order them from summit) for your truck? are you gonna be wheelin with trevor this weekend? im meeting him up there saturday.

Fx4wannabe01 07-03-2008 07:48 PM

wtf...lol. no....nevermind. I was just saying if you are comin' up here this weekend, just buy mine off me. I need to make an order from summit anyway, so i'll replace those that u just bought. lol....get it? lol. haha....i've been trying to get ahold of trevor.

Woods-Rider 07-04-2008 02:07 PM

I live in hillsboro during the summer so im pretty much already up to portland.

But.....as said in other threads, alignment shops want seriously like $100 for cam bolts....so they'll align it as best as they can w/o telling you about the cam bolt option to get it perfect. That is your issue....your upper control arms are sucked in too much.

How can you tell if you have the superlift cam washers? Here are some pics of my bolts. i just dont want to buy the cam bolts if i already have the cam washers.

You dont have them. Your bolts are the stockers.

Woods-Rider 07-09-2008 08:40 AM

thanks. ordered some bolts, hopefully they do the trick.

Fx4wannabe01 07-09-2008 08:52 AM

Kyle...i wanna drive your truck with 4.88's......

Woods-Rider 07-09-2008 12:39 PM

sure man. we should go wheelin next weekend or somethin. I would suggest 4.56 though, i run about 3 grand on the freeway. i do drive a little fast though.

Blhde 07-09-2008 08:38 PM

Check your wheel bearings and ball joints. When they go bad the alignment goes out of spec.

The lift will wear these parts faster, esp if you use the truck off road more now.

Woods-Rider 07-10-2008 09:07 AM

it was like this after i replaced ball joints and the drivers wheel bearings. im hoping the cam bolts fix it.

Blhde 07-10-2008 05:14 PM

When I did ball joints it fixed my alignment.

I did buy cams in the event i needed them.

seed60 07-10-2008 05:37 PM

So a SL will make you truck un-alignable???

No not at all. Some guys just needed to replace worn out ball joints or get a cam kit.

Cool, I guess I'll find out when I wear some stuff out!!

Fx4wannabe01 07-10-2008 06:10 PM

It's not the SL kit that wears stuff out.....it's the bigger tires that the SL kit allows you to put on. Also wheelsize/backspace plays a roll there too.

The same can be said about just about every lift kit out there, not just rangers.

Woods-Rider 07-17-2008 10:44 AM

so i got the cam bolts pictured above and took them in to get installed and aligned. they guy said that these bolts would give me less adjustment than i already have. he said for camber adjustment you can either use cams or slots and that i was using slots which give more adjustment. has anyone heard of this or do i need to take it somewhere else?

Woods-Rider 07-18-2008 12:43 PM

bump!

Fx4wannabe01 07-18-2008 12:48 PM

take it somewhere else. stock gives only no adjustment because of the welded on nuts that are weirdly shaped.

Woods-Rider 07-18-2008 01:59 PM

will do as soon as i get my truck back from the body shop. flopped it last weekend but that is for another thread that i will post once i get the pics from a friend.
