Overhead Consol

Im installing a consol from a 97 explorer into my 96 ranger. I picked this up at the jy for $20. My question is do i need to get the temp sensor from the explorer or does my ranger have one somewhere? Where is this sensor located on the explorer or the ranger if it has one? Thanx

You need the Ex sensor and plug with the blue/white and blue/yellow wires. Take a look at this how-to for lots more info.

Thanks for the link Bob... that looks alot simpler than the way i was planning on attempting this. :)

I really need to know where to look for this temp sensor on the explorer... I'm thinking it is in the front somewhere because the tutorial has it placed there for the mod. Can anyone explain or post a pic of what this looks like... I want to make another trip to the jy and pick one up along with some other things.

What yard are you going to? I live over in Holt and I'll come help you find it if you want.

The sensor is on the driver's side, behind the grill/headlight. If I remember correctly, it is down near the mount for the bumper on that side. When I pulled mine it was hidden under a piece of rubber so it may not jump out at you when you look.

the sensor is located on the front of the car on the drivers side in the area behind the headlight... it has two wires though im not sure on the color... here is a pic of one on ebay... its the piece directly to the left of the console in this pic

That looks like the wrong sensor in the picture since the wires are not blue.

EATC temp sensor: red/orange and pink/black
Overhead console temp sensor: blue/white and blue/yellow

Many Explorers have both the console and the EATC sensors. Be sure to get the right sensor and connector for the console (blue/white and blue/yellow wires). The EATC sensor will give a false temperature reading if mistakenly used with the overhead console.

I think you're talking about John Griggs's CarDomain, not mine, right?
